Brocco Family

In 1910, Benjamin Brocco immigrated to Petaluma, California from Sementian, Switzerland.  Other relatives of Ben, who immigrated to California were: Pete to San Francisco, Linda to Ripon, Antonio to Petaluma and Frank to San Francisco.

             In 1912 he went to work in Imperial Valley. After a few years he went to work for the Pellanda family in Stockton.  He remained there until his marriage to Angiolina Matasci in 1919.

             Angiolina Matasci came to this country in 1915, from Sonongno, Switzerland.  She had five sisters and three brothers.,  Angiolina’s relatives who came to California were: John to Greenfield, Samuel to San Francisco, Maria to Linden and Anna to Hughson.  She went to work for the family of Clement Pelucca in Eugene, California.  Later she came to Modesto and worked for the families of Signorotti and Massera.  Form Modesto she went to Stockton to work.  It was there she met Benjamin Brocco and they nmarried.

             A few months later they bought a thirty-one acre ranch in the small community of Valley Home, California.  They went into the dairy business.  They had five children, John, Carolyn, Samuel, Inez and Joseph.

             They were members of the Swiss Club.  Ben as he was called, enjoyed getting together with his friends to sing and play Bocci.

             John worked for the Nonella and Zambruno Famrs for forty-eight years.  Carolyn was employed by Pacific Telephone for thirty-six years, Inez worked for Pacific Telephone for ten years then stayed at home to raiser her children.  Joseph Brocco worked at the Ceres Post Office for twenty-nine years.  Carolyn married Ettore (Barney) Barindelli.  Barney loves to cook for the Swiss Club.  His favorites are amking spaghetti sauce, polenta and risotto.  Inez married Frank Bavaro.  They have two children, Janice and Frank, and three grandchildren.  Frank was Treasurer fro the Swiss club for three years.  Joseph married Bonnie Sparks.  They have three children, Benjamin, Irice, and Susan, and five grandchildren.

             Barney, Carolyn, Frank and Inez joined the Stanislaus County Swiss Club in 1971.  Carolyn and Inez were on the raffle committee for two years.  They are all now life members of the Swiss Club.
