Born June 17, 1897, in Monte Carasso, Switzerland. Father was Felice Morisoli, born 1864; died 1938. Mother was Elisobet Grossi Morisoli, born 1866; died 1908. Felice and Elisobet farmed about 10 acres on a mountain place in Monte Carasso. They had a family of five (5) children. John was their oldest son. He had three brothers and one sister. John, Alfredo, Rinaldo, Frank and Josephine. John’s father died when he was 74. Johnls mother died when she was 42 John came to the United States in 1912 for a visit to see if he like it here. Went back to Switzerland, in 1913 and returned to the United States in 1914 or 1915 to stay. He settled in Gonzales, Monterey County, California. He started a dairy on the outskirts of Gonzales, which is now the Violini Ranch.
SOPHIE RUSCONI Born February 18, 1901 in Sementina, Switzerland Father was Talbado Rusconi, born 1876; died 1959. Mother was Isolina Rossi Rusoni, born 1877; died 1967. Talbado and Isolina had a farm with cows, goats and grapes in Sementina, Switzerland. They had a family of seven (7) children. Sophie was their oldest daughter. She had two brothers and four sisters. Sophie, Aldo, Cora, Bruno, Basilia, Ester and Tilda. Sophie’s father died when he was 83. Sophie’s mother died when she was 90. Sophie came to the United States in 1918 and settled in Oakdale, Stanislaus County, California. Worked in the Italian Colony area of Oakdale for a period of time. Then went to Modesto to work for the Signorotti family. During this time, Sophie went to the Swiss Club at it’s first doing in 1920. She and Joe Nickelodi were the dancing couple, is the story our mother told us many times.
JOHN FELIX MORISOLI AND SOPHIE RUSCONI MORISOLI John and Sophie knew each other in Switzerland and they later were married in San Francisco, California on September 22, 1921. Sophie moved to Gonzales, where John had his dairy ranch. They had their first daughter while they were on the Violini Ranch, Hazel Mary Morisoli, born July 24, 1923. They then moved the dairy to the Bassi Ranch, a short distance from the Violini Ranch where they went into the dairy business with their brother-in-law, Pierno & Cora Caccia. Cora was Sophie’s sister. They had another child while there. John Felix, Jr., was born on October 17, 1924. In 1927, John came to a funeral in Modesto, and found the climate so much better for his asthma that he moved his family here in 1928. They moved to an 80 acre ranch on Mable Avenue between Coffee and Old Oakdale Road in Modesto. Here they had their third child, Charlie Walter, born on April 4, 1931. (Not in Picture) They kept this ranch until the death of their son, Johnny. Johnny was killed in a truck accident July 31, 1945. In December of 1945 John Sr., decided to sell the big ranch to get a smaller 19 acre clover ranch east of Riverbank near Oakdale, where he continued to milk a smaller herd of cows, as this is what he enjoyed doing. John died on June 16, 1947 at the age of 52. He died on his 52nd birthday. Sophie died on January 17, 1978 at the age of 77. Hazel is retired in Modesto, she has one child, Frank and four grandchildren. Charlie married Anita Butterfield of Oakdale. They have two daughters, Joyce and Janice and 7 grandchildren. Charlie and Anita have a ranch in Riverbank, California.
